Nicholas
Anderson received his B.A. in Music at Lawrence University in
2009. During his time at Lawrence, Nicholas enjoyed performing in the Lawrence
University Jazz Ensemble, Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, and the top Lawrence Jazz
Combo. Nicholas was the recipient of two collaborative awards from Downbeat
Magazine, one with the Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble on it's album
"Witnesses" and one with an independent project called Fatbook, which was
awarded "Best Collegiate Pop/Rock/Blues group" in the 2009 June issue of
Downbeat Magazine. Before Ward Brodt, Nicholas has taught privately for six
years, guiding his students through the journey of bass discovery. From funk to
classical to reggae and jazz, Nicholas is enthusiastic to teach his students,
whatever age and in whichever style. In virtually all genres, Nicholas stresses
the importance of understanding classical, jazz, and music theory, and
incorporates them in his lessons. Although music theory can be confusing, he
teaches it in a way that is easy to understand. Nicholas knows that, with the
right techniques and a good practice schedule, he can help any student become a
great player.
