Melissa Weis (1981) has been a professional flute teacher since 1999 and a DPI licensed music educator since 2004. Melissa
received her Bachelor of Music Education at the University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2004 and her Masters of Music Education from
the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. An eclectic musician,
Melissa has performed with musical groups ranging from wind bands to
jazz ensembles to a gamelan orchestra. From 2004-2007, Melissa served
as the instrumental teacher for a rural school district teaching 5-12
wind band, marching band, jazz, flute choir, color guard, music
appreciation and film music, and she has taught at the Madison Summer
Music Clinic in 2008 and 2009, teaching film music, rock music, flute,
theory, jazz and wind band. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Melissa served as the direct supervisor to pre-service music educators
in the field.
Melissa is an energetic, encouraging and patient
teacher who provides individualized instruction tailored to her
students’ needs, personality, and learning style. Her passion is
cultivating a rich appreciation for music in her students that will
continue throughout their lives. She enjoys working with students of
all ages and experiences, and has taught everyone from beginners to
semi-professionals.
